Our Current Spotlight

When we decide on a product to put into the Spotlight, there is a protocol to be followed. Basically, the product is sent to us by the manufacturer, we take photos to make sure that we'll have a good one for the article, and then we test the product to see if it delivers what is promised. We had a little trouble with this one. That is... it was hard to get through the picture-taking without breaking open the package to devour the contents!

To give you a little background, Eddie's Energy Bars was the brainchild of a special young man named Michael Adams, from Richmond, Vermont. It was actually a high school class project for him. With the help of his father, Ed, he came up with a winner of an idea and a product that backs up any promises made.

I've actually never been much of a fan of "energy" bars. In the past I've found the ones I've tried were basically dull, tasteless excuses for a real snack. Ordinarily I would not even consider them unless there was no other choice, and I was starving. Eddie's Energy bars are quite different. They are delicious homemade treats... that are completely natural and healthy! Eddie's offers 6 different types of bars, each unique, and perfect for those of us that like choice in our snacks. The similarity with all of them is that they have incredible 'mouth-feel', they taste as though they are good for you without being bland, and they are the perfect size to fill you up and make you feel good and energized!

If I had to pick my 2 favorites, they would be the Cranberry-Orange (Wow, a burst of flavor in every bite!) and the Chocolate Chip (The sweet taste of chocolate morsels mixed in. Perfect when you have a bit of a sweet tooth.) I'll also add that the Cinnamin Raison is PERFECT for a morning snack on the go. But trust me when I say that every flavor that is offered is out of this world! But besides the fact that this is a healthy snack that tastes good, it LOOKS so good! These bars are enclosed in a cellophane sealed bag that shows off the gloriousness of each bar to the max. If this product was sold in a health food store, I can imagine that they would not last long sitting next to the checkout stand. Just look at the photo above to see what I mean. They are the most beautiful bars I've ever seen! Needless to say, I can't say enough about Michael and his outstanding product. His company has been a pleasure to work with, and let me be one of the first to say... this kid is onto something big!

This is the story of Eddie's Energy Bars®:

It all started when I was asked by my high school business teacher to create an energy bar for the Vermont Chamber of Commerce Business Expo in 2004. After creating a recipe, the bar debuted at the Business Expo.

Garnering rave reviews, and with many people wanting the recipe, this event gave birth to my present business venture, Eddie's Energy Bars®. I call it Eddie's Energy Bars® because my father's name is Ed, and he has played an integral part in helping to keep my business running. I enjoy this venture because I am always on the go, meeting new people who have tried my energy bars!

I had eaten other energy bars before that were solid as a rock or flaky like a cracker. I did not enjoy them, so I knew what I wanted to accomplish: an all natural, no preservative energy bar. I wanted a bar that tasted good and beat out my competition in texture and nutrition. After recreating the recipe several times, I came up with the perfect recipe. I test marketed my bar on friends, family, and faculty at my school. They all wanted more. I was now ready to jump start my business, and grow in to a larger, yet more localized market.

I am now pitching my product to stores around the county. I am extremely excited about this venture. I plan to continue to grow it – and hope to have Eddies Energy Bars® in numerous stores and hands across the country with my marketing slogan --
